October color change on a custom, 2-part canvas painting:

The following are close-up views.

Notes on technique:
  • I used a bit of texture so that the yellow area on the right hand canvas wouldn't look like a flat shape.
  • I echoed that texture in a small part of the left hand canvas.
  • I blended lighter and medium-value yellows (lighter and darker versions of the same yellow) to give some variety and to make a nice soft transition into adjoining shapes and colors:

  1. It looks great, Kirsten! If you could just do one more thing, it will be perfect! On the second frame down, see the part that looks like a large arrow or pointer? Is there any way to soften those lines so it's not as noticeable? Maybe just round the edges at top of the arrow or fill them in more or add another stalk or something? Other than that, I CAN'T WAIT TO HANG IT UP! Yay! Thanks so much, Kirsten! You rock! Best,, Maureen
